Banyan Tree Resort - A desert paradise

The Banyan Tree Resort in Ras Al Khaimah will be a one of kind project based on the relatively new concept of a ‘Desert resort’. The resort will be located within Wadi Khadeja, some 20km away from the Ras Al Khaimah city centre. The project will include 30 deluxe villas, a 70-block hotel and an outdoor activity which would include restaurants, bar, conference halls a camel and horse station, a falcon center and two watch towers. It would also have two royal spas, a deluxe spa, a gym, yoga/meditation centre and a Hydrotherapy centre. It will encompass approximately one million square meters of desert that will largely be left undeveloped and in its pure form. The resort is based on the concept of a ‘Desert resort’ which brings the visitor closer to natural beauty and ambiance of the Arabian Desert. Such resorts are generally located far from the city to help visitors leave the stress of modern day city life behind and enjoy the various indulgences the resort has to offer.

Ras Al Khaimah would be the ideal location for such a project considering that Ras Al Khaimah is endowed with a picturesque landscape and vast countryside which represents the essence of Arabic culture and heritage. It has a rich flora and fauna which provides opportunities to develop eco tourism in the Emirate.

There is large influx of tourists in the UAE and the average tourist stays for 3.5 days. The period could be longer if there were more unique tourism attractions in the country. As of now UAE is considered to be a shopping haven with the presence of large shopping malls offering each and every brand under the sun. Tourists on the other hand are missing out on opportunities to get closer with Arabic culture and heritage and would be looking at desert resorts as a unique experience and an opportunity to feel the pleasures of the Arabian countryside.

The Banyan Tree Resort would help fill this gap, and with diverse range of attractions more tourists would be inclined to visit the UAE and those who visit would stay for a longer period. There are two major desert resorts located close to Dubai attracting many tourists. There is also a similar project being undertaken in Bahrain by the Banyan Tree resorts group which is also anticipated to be a great success.
